I hope everyone enjoyed their Holiday Break! We have a busy week ahead with our second Developmental Meet on Thursday and the Hartford Public Meet on Saturday. Here is training for the week as it stands now. Obviously, it can change and be revised with weather and whatever else might come up. I remind everyone to come to practice prepared to run in any kind of environment.
Monday- Sprints- We will be working out inside since the track is probably not available. 2 sets of 4x200m getting increasingly faster. 2 minute rest between each 200m and 5 minute rest between sets. 5 minute rest then full hallway sprints and walking the sides. We will do 2 of these.
Distance- We will be outside. Experienced girls will warmup to the linear path on N.Brooksvale. Threshold/Tempo pace from the linear path to Cornwall Ave. 5 minute recovery then 6x40 second blasts (These take the place of 200's). Cool-down going up Cornwall.
Less experienced girls will warmup to the linear path on Higgins and run threshold/tempo pace to Cornwall. 5 minute recovery then 8x40 second blasts. Cool-down going up Cornwall.
Tuesday-Sprints/Distnace- Everyone will do an easy run 2-5 miles with several strides afterwards. We will also practice starts. Choose events for Thursday's Meet.
Wednesday- Premeet day for those running at the Developmental Meet. Sprinters running Hartford Public- Easy distance followed by 6x Full Hallway. Coach Gunneson will be coming to help with field events. If you participate in a field event, you will also be working with her.
Distance running Hartford Public-3-5 miles followed by 4x100m strides
Thursday- Developmental Meet. Sprinters running Hartford Public- 8xIns and Outs. Distance- 25 minute run followed by 5x1 minute pushes with 1 minute recovery.
Friday- Sprinters who ran in the meet, Tradition Workout Inside. Distance who ran in the meet, Long Run 5-8 miles. Premeet for Hartford Public Individuals. Coach Gunneson will be coming in to work with field event people.
Saturday- Hartford Public Meet. Everyone else 2-5 miles easy followed by 6x50m strides
Sunday- Everyone Off.
